This medical exhibit features a sagittal view of the lumbar spine. This image shows the herniation of the L4-5 disc with stenosis of the spinal cord (cauda equina) at this level. Also, a third surgical procedure is illustrated showing the large incision created to expose several levels of the lumbar spine, the removal of the laminae from L3, L4 and L5 and the removal of the offending disc material at the L4-5 level on the right.
